What we have
already
accomplished

  • A responsible production model

This means responsible production volumes,no items left unsold, no waste. Twice a year we release our Archives which includes pieces made from our left-over fabrics and leathers, and in particular items from previous seasons that were returned to us outside the relevant collection period.

  • 2018 2019 goal

    Natural vegetable tanning

One-third of our leather goods are produced using vegetable tanning methods, which is less polluting than traditional tanning. It is our ambition to increase this percentage to three-quarters by the end of 2019.

  • Footwear made in Europe

All of our shoes are now manufactured in Europe in our Italian, Spanish and Portuguese ateliers which we support to grow, fit themselves out and modernize.

  • The Boutique Solidaire

Our charity boutique in Paris is an unprecedented hub for collecting and recycling, receiving donations, and supporting socially inclusive workshops. At the store, we resell Sézane pieces left over from photo shoots, our own test fittings, and your own items that you have been kind enough to donate. All profits are donated to DEMAIN.

  • A dedicated Green Team

We’ve set up an internal team dedicated to environmental matters that is constantly growing, and led by Elleore, Marie, Jenny and Mathilde.

  • Quality pieces designed to last

We keep our prices accessible and margins below the industry average, by means of our responsible production model, which does not rely on intermediaries or distributors. This allows us to set the fairest price for our customers while simultaneously rewarding the expertise of our factories and employees. For prices to be truly fair, they must stay the same all year long. That’s why we don’t run sales or special offers. We also have our every single one of our products tested by independent bodies which conduct mechanical stress-tests, to guarantee the sustainability of Sézane pieces.

  • An ambitious recycling project

More than 10000 pieces of clothing have gone on to live a second life as a result of our regular recycling campaigns.

  • 40% Natural textiles

    eco-friendly materials

We have significantly increased the proportion of environmentally friendly materials, from 10% in the Autumn-Winter 2018 collection, to 40% for the same collection in 2019. That's four times more than last year. By environmentally-friendly materials, we mean those with a truly minimal environmental impact, i.e. organic cotton, recycled polyester, linen, lyocell as well as certified materials.

  • Reduction of packaging

We’ve reduced the percentage of packaging and plastic. All our cardboard box manufacturing has been switched to cardboard made from recycled and/or from sustainably managed forests certified fibres

Our commitments
for the
next
12 months

  • A new collection of 100% eco-friendly pieces, designed here, inside the heart of Sézane. Stay tuned, we’ll reveal more details soon.

  • 80% of sweatshirts and T-shirts in our next collection are made from 100% organic cotton

  • The launch of our first eco-friendly denim line

  • A new sustainable version of our well-known Jack sneakers will be available alongside the classic version. Slightly more expensive, but above all more virtuous: with recycled rubber soles, organic cotton laces, vegetable tanned leather, water-based glue. A showcase piece of our constantly developing techniques and best products.

  • A ready-to-wear linen capsule collection, launching in the Spring

  • An upcoming rendezvous that will give a second life to vintage clothing (Les Composantes)

  • A systematic reduction in packaging, reconstruction of our tote bags, and fastidious commitment to being eco-friendly at every level of our operations

Sézane’s future:
A permanent work
in progress

  • Enhancement of every product category

There are 4+ aspects in which our work is ongoing. We aim to increase our use of:
+ materials of low environmental footprint
    + vegetable tanning
    + organic-certified cotton
    + recycled synthetics

  • Certification of all of our sectors

Organic cotton, animal welfare, tanneries – all our active industries are reviewed from the bottom-up and at their source. On a global scale, this is a painstakingly long and difficult process, but we will not leave anything to chance.

  • Innovation and the search for new collaborators

Vegetable leather tanning, local producers, etc. We identify and test the latest alternative production methods with an emphasis on local raw materials wherever possible.

  • Increase the lifespan and recyclability of our components

Increasingly qualitative elements- made to last and reparable at our boutiques, as well as end-of-life recycling.

  • Reduction of our transport-related footprint

Offering you packaging-free options, eco-friendly delivery, reduced air transport time, elimination of plastic in the supply chain and exclusively recyclable packaging.
