Join us at the L'Appartement New York - after hours - for this months Les Conversations series with Christine Muhlke is the founder of Bureau X food consultancy and the Xtine newsletter. This fall she published "Wine Simple" and "Signature Dishes That Matter."
Moderator for the evening will be Carla Lalli Music, Food Director of Bon Appetit and author of "Where Cooking Begins."  French treats and champagne will also be provided throughout the evening.

Jennifer Hayden 

 

To celebrate Pink October, author Jennifer Hayden discussed her most recent book 
The Story of My Tits, a memoir about her life and her experience with breast cancer. Nominated for an Eisner Award and named one of the best graphic novels of the year by The New York Times, Library Journal, GQ, Comic Book Resources, Paste, Mental Floss, Forbes, and NPR.

Karen Green, Curator for Comics and Cartoons at Columbia University's Rare Book & Manuscript Library, was the moderator for the evening. 



 


 

September: Past Conversations

with Emily Skillings

For the September edition of Les Conversation series, we welcomed poet Emily Skillings into the Appartement. She discussed her highly anticipated debut collection, Fort Not. Skillings is a member of the Belladonna Collaborative, a feminist poetry collective, small press, and event series. 

Our moderator for the evening was Dorothea Lasky, who is also a poet. She has published four full-length collections of poetry, along with releasing chapbooks and appearing in various literary journals. She is currently an Associate Professor of Poetry at Columbia University School of the Arts.

Alice Feiring 


 

Alice joined us at the New York Apartment - after hours - for our monthly Conversations series with Alice Feiring. An advocate for natural wine, Feiring is known for the popular wine newsletter The Feiring Line. In her former years, Feeling was a columnist for Time and Wall Street Journal Magazine, she still writes for prestigious publications such as The New York Times, The World of Fine Wine and The Hollywood Reporter.

Sarina


 

 Sarina Prabasi has lived the life of a global nomad and is a new American. She was born in the Netherlands to Nepali parents and was raised in India, China, and Nepal, after which she spent her formative years in the United States and in Ethiopia. Sarina is a seasoned leader in international development—working on global health, education, water, and sanitation for over 25 years. In 2011, she moved from Addis Ababa to New York City and started Buunni Coffee with her husband. Their small business has become a hub for community conversation and action. Sarina is the proud mama of two daughters, who keep her learning and laughing every day.

Pavana Reddy 


 

Pavana Reddy is a South Indian, Los Angeles based poet and songwriter. She is well known for her song "Remain the sea," featured on the album "Land of Gold" by legendary sitarist Anoushka Shankar, as well as her debut collection of poetry: "Rangoli." 
Her anticipated second collection, "Where Do You Go Alone," is out now.
